BC's Industry Training Authority (ITA) offer various programs targeting Youths, that let you get started in a trade while you’re still in high school. Public trainers in BC offer programs that allow you to explore and gain both practical training and work experience in the trades. View Youth Explore Trade Sampler courses.
Youth Train in Trades (formerly ACE-IT) programs will give you high-school graduation credits and a head start towards completion of an apprenticeship program. Applications are normally approved twice yearly, as the sessions generally start in September and February, which are aligned with the normal school year. Available programs are listed below.
These programs take you a step further by supplying on-the-job training to prepare you for a trade apprenticeship while you’re still in high school. Visit the ITA for more details.
