Electronics Technician Core

The Electronics Technician Common Core program at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is a springboard to a variety of careers in electronics. Through theoretical and practical study, students develop the skills needed to install, maintain and repair electronic circuits and equipment. In addition, they gain insight into possible advanced-study options available, helping them to choose a specialty program to complete their training. They can continue their studies at BCIT or at a number of other colleges across Canada or in the USA.

Graduates of the Common Core program are eligible to enter the following BCIT Diploma Programs:

  • Telecommunications Technician
  • Wireless Communications Technician

    Note that this is not an Apprenticeship trade, but a core program that can lead to a variety of Diploma Programs at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).


    Good hand/eye coordination and good colour vision are recommended for success.


    Applicants must meet these entrance requirements: English 12 or Communications 12, or 3 credits of post-secondary English, Humanities or Social Sciences; plus Math 11.
