Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Electronics
Aircraft Maintenance Engineers - Electronics (AME-E) are responsible for the service, repair, modification, and certification of an aircraft's electronic systems (avionics). This includes communication, in-flight entertainment, navigation, auto flight, flight path computation, instruments, and the electrical elements of other aircraft systems, as well as any structural work directly associated with the maintenance of those systems.
Maintenance tasks include troubleshooting and repair, operation and verification checks, adjustments and servicing, modifications, software upgrades, as well as initial installations.
AME-E professionals can find employment with air operators including airlines, helicopter operators, charter companies and in the resource sector. There are also employment opportunities in Aircraft Maintenance and Repair Organizations (MROs).
BCIT's Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Electronics Diploma program combines theory in a classroom setting, followed by hands-on practical training in the shops and hangar located at BCIT's state-of-the-art Aerospace Technology Campus. the program is designed to follow national standards and is approved by Transport Canada. Successful completion of the AME-E Diploma program will result in an experience credit of 18 months out of the 48 months required by Transport Canada to obtain an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Category E license (AME-E).
