Aviation Management and Operations
The Aviation Management and Operations Diploma program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) provides students with a comprehensive, interdisciplinary program of study in the aviation sector. This modernized curriculum introduces students to a wide variety of subjects including; aviation regulations, aviation management processes, data analytics, safety and security regulations and systems, cargo logistics, sustainability in aviation, finance and economics, aviation law, and much more. Students participate in a 12-week workplace education (non-co-op) course between Year 1 and Year 2. Students also complete a capstone project led by an aviation industry leader, where they focus on real-world aviation issues, applying their knowledge and practical skills to produce industry recommendations and solutions. The capstone project course spans three terms, with projects focusing on such topics as airport design improvements, airline route development, outreach to community to promote the industry and other relevant industry projects. To maintain a current, high-calibre standard, this program has a highly engaged industry Program Advisory Committee (PAC) made up of airport and airline managers, airport field staff from Canada's local regional and national airports, and Transport Canada representatives, as well as other aviation ancillary services. Come join us in exploring your passion and interest in the world of aviation, from those with prior experience looking to upskill, to anyone who's been interested in working in this sector.
