Parts Technician (1, 2 & 3)

A Parts Technician is involved in ordering, warehousing and keeping inventory control over parts and accessories. They are responsible for helping parts, accessories and warehouse products make their way from manufacturers to consumers, documenting and tracking their progress along the way from factories to warehouses to retail outlets. A Parts Technician is often responsible for receiving goods and sorting incoming parts, supplies and materials in a warehouse atmosphere. They maintain shipping and receiving records on the amount, kind and location of parts and supplies shipped or received and process purchases and reconcile inventories with physical counts.

At Level 3, Parts Technician is a nationally designated trade under the Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Program.

Recommendations

The following education is recommended: Grade 10 or equivalent (Grade 12 is preferred), including English 10, Math 10, Science 10.

 

The Apprenticeship Program is comprised of Levels 1-to-3 of progressive technical training, with each Level taking 3 weeks (90 hours) to complete, however certification can be achieved at any desired level (refer to SkilledTradesBC for full details).

 

In addition, apprentices are required to accumulate 1,680 hours of work-based training at both Levels 1 and 2, plus 1,770 hours at Level 3, totalling 5,130 hours.
